Assessment and Measurement of Psychosocial Constructs

The International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development (ISSBD) is pleased to announce a one-hour workshop titled “Assessment and Measurement of Psychosocial Constructs.” Designed primarily for Early Career Scholars, the workshop is open to all ISSBD members interested in strengthening their understanding of assessment and measurement in psychosocial research. This event represents a unique opportunity to learn directly from one of the leading international experts in the field.
This one-hour workshop will provide an overview of key principles in the assessment and measurement of psychosocial constructs. Topics will include the importance of clear construct definitions, as well as the reliability and validity of items and scales. Practical examples will be presented throughout the session.

Anne Petersen is Research Professor (Adjunct), University of Michigan, in two units.
Petersen held administrative and faculty roles at Stanford U, U Minnesota, Penn State U, and U Chicago. She was Senior VP Programs, WK Kellogg Foundation and US President-nominated/Senate-confirmed National Science Foundation Deputy Director/COO. She was Founder/President of Global Philanthropy Alliance, a foundation making grants in Africa.
Petersen authored 15 books and over 350 articles, currently emphasizing global science policy and philanthropy, with continuing emphases on adolescence/youth development and evaluation/research methods. Her honors include election to National Academy of Medicine (NASEM: National Academies of Science, Engineering, Medicine) and African Academy of Sciences, and Fellow in several scientific societies including AAAS, ISSBD, APA (three divisions), and founding Fellow of APS. She was involved with founding Society of Research on Adolescence and was elected President of that scientific society as well as several others. She chaired NASEM Policy & Global Affairs Divisional Committee as well as NASEM EnCoRe Committee and was key faculty for two fellowship programs in Africa, among other US/global voluntary boards/committees.
All Petersen degrees are University of Chicago: BA mathematics, MS statistics, PhD measurement, evaluation, and statistical analysis.
